| Coachella Valley wants to help you succeed. In addition to free face-to-face counseling, we offer low-cost workshops and seminars for both start-up and in-business entrepreneurs. Workshops and seminars are open to all U.S. citizens over the age of 13. Training topics range from writing a business plan to e-commerce to marketing, depending on the current needs of our business community. Workshops also offer an opportunity to interact with other local small business owners. Please review our workshop/seminar calendar below to learn more about upcoming training sessions.
Many workshop presenters are practicing professionals including accountants, lawyers, bankers and business mangers from diverse businesses and industries. Other facilitators are SCORE counselors who have years of industry and business experience.

Palm Desert – A series of workshops is being offered to small business entrepreneurs and start-ups on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (unless otherwise noted) at the University of California – Riverside, Palm Desert Graduate Center, The Heckmann Center Building, 75-080 Frank Sinatra Dr., Palm Desert, California, 92211. These workshops are for those who want to develop, expand and sharpen their business skills and enhance the profitability of their enterprises. This series begins March 1, 2008, 0900-5:00pm. Kickstart Your Business with Workshops from SCORE…….
"Sales Techniques That Work"
Palm Springs, CA – A new Workshop/Seminar entitled, "Sales Techniques That Work" will be
presented by SCORE, "Counselors to America's Small Business", on March 29, 2008. The workshop will be
held at the HECKMAN CENTER BUILDING, University of California-Palm Desert Graduate Center, 75-080
Frank Sinatra Drive, Palm Desert, CA 92211. Coffee and Registration will start at 8:00 AM. Workshop will
begin promptly at 8:30 AM., and ends at noon. The Workshop includes a free Box Lunch, and an optional
Counseling Session at the seminar or by appointment at SCORE offices in Palm Springs. SCORE professional
counseling is always free of charge.
Principal instructor will be Peter Foley, formerly a Senior Sales Management Executive with FedEx. Peter is a
Business Counselor with SCORE – Coachella Valley and has over 35 years of highly successful sales
experience.
Topics to be covered will be: 'Gaining New Customers', 'Retaining Old Customers', 'Additional Revenues from
Existing Customers', 'Techniques of a Great Professional Sales Person', 'Handling Objections and Turning them
in Your Favor', 'Overcoming the Fear of Rejection', and 'Knowing when the Customer is ready to Buy from
You' and 'How to Ask for the Order'. Other topics discussed will be, 'Are your sales goals on target? ',
Evaluating the Effectiveness of your Sales Personnel', and 'Why Would Customers Want to Buy from You and
Your company – versus the competition?'
